what is the difference b/w vbelv and vbeln fields in vbfa table

can any one give me details,

the field VBELV is Preceding sales and distribution document i.e. it comes in upper hierarchy od SD flow .

a SD can be refferd by different no. in differet areas.

so VBELV can be reffred to old doc no

while VBELN is the new SD doc no. which is refferd now.

bt basicaaly the both refers the same doc only the no. is different so VBFA table provides link b/w them

u can go through SD flow doc for more clear picture

Hi,

VBELV contains the Sales Order number and VBELN will refer to the following documents.

i.e. Delivery , Invoice..etc.

go to VA03 and choose the 'Display document flow ' to understand more information.

Hi,

VBELV - Preceding sales and distribution document

VBELN - Subsequent sales and distribution document.

consider SD flow Order~~>Delivery~~>billing.

If u give Delivery No in VBELV You will get the Billing Number in VBELN,Next may be Probaly the Accouting Document Number ,will follow the Billing.

Similarily if u give Salesorder in VBELV u will get Deivery ,Billing ,Accouting Document Number .Provide the Susequent Process Should be Completed .

VBFA contains the document flow. VBELV and VBLEN identifies the preceeding document and subsequent document numbers. Considering a normal sales flow: SO -> DO -> Bi In VBFA, you can find the same as: VBELV = <SO Number> and VBTYP_V = 'C' " Sales Document & VBELN = <DO Number> and VBTYP_N = 'J' " Delivery Document VBELN = <Billing Doc> and VBTYP_N = 'M' " Invoice Here VBTYP_V identifies the document category of preceeding document and VBTYP_N identified the document category of the subsequent document.

VBFA vbelv = preceeding document

(Doc. Flow) vbeln = subsequent doc

Preceding sales and distribution document

Number that uniquely identifies the preceding sales, delivery, or billing document (for example, the quotation from which you created a sales order).
