Hello,

How can one test that his/her code is compatible against specific ABAP Language Release?

As my background is C/Java, in the past I've done these code compatability tests aginst specific compilers/jdk versions. I was astounded to learn from my colleagues that the ABAP technology/workbench does not provide similar release specific precompilations cases.

Now I and my team do the funny thing called downport of ABAP code from 7.10 to 7.0 release version, and normally there are tons of incompatabilities. So actually we tripple the efforts for the code work - first we developed our code at 7.10, then corrected at 7.0, and then should correct it at 7.10 once more again.

Is there any normal way or procedure to check/precompile the code on the first stage - when we develop at the latest release (7.10) , for incompatability against older releases?

Thanks
