hi exprets!!

i am working on LDB report and can you please tell how to use a LDB in a report without default calling the SELECTION-SCREEN of the LDB?

and please let me know why we need to ldb insted of normal programing?we can use the normal selction methods and selection-screens in report insted of LDB?whats advantage??

Hi,

A logical database is a special ABAP/4 program which combines the contents of certain database tables. You can link a logical database to an ABAP/4 report program as an attribute. The logical database then supplies the report program with a set of hierarchically structured table lines which can be taken from different database tables.

LDB offers an easy-to-use selection screens. You can modify the pre-generated selection screen to your needs. It offers check functions to check whether user input is complete, correct, and plausible. It offers reasonable data selections. It contains central authorization checks for data base accesses. Enhancements such as improved performance immediately apply to all report programs that use the logical database.

Less coding s required to retrieve data compared to normal internel tables.

Tables used LDB are in hierarchial structure.

Mainly we used LDBs in HR Abap Programming.

Where all tables are highly inter related so LDBs can optimize the performance there.

*there r total six events in LDB.*

get, -- starts executing from root node onwards.

get late -- starts executing subroot nodes first & later root node.

get late reject -- starts executing subroot nodes only.

get late reject table -- starts executing that particular Database tale only.

put --- it will write the data.

hi ,

do like this .....goto attributes of the program ~~>give the ldb name>goto hr report catagory~~->choose the master catagory(f4)--->give any name existed then the selection screen will be changed ..save it and execute it..

the lbds are used when the single record prossing in hrabap it is very easy to use the macros...than the select statements..

Hi,

In order to access the LDB,You can use GET and PUT statements which acts similar to which act similar to SELECT - ENDSELECT.

If you dont choose the proper LDB A single LDB may contain data retrieval from so many tables that it would make the entire process very slow.

When you use logical databases, most executable programs benefit from having

· an easy-to-use and standard user interface

· check functions, which check that user input is complete, correct, and plausible

· meaningful data selection

· central authorization checks for database accesses

· good read access performance (for example, with views) while retaining the hierarchical data view determined by the application logic.

Even though you are using central logical databases, the program itself remains flexible because:

· You can still create your own selection screens for each program

· You can code your own functions in any event block in the program. For example, you may want to write user dialogs for further authorization or plausibility checks on the selection screen.

Change the report category ...

use this in the report category .. _____000
