can anyone tell me the "Do’s and Don'ts in an SAP Upgrade(from 4.6c to ECC6) " or atleast a website where i can get some info abt it??

Please have a look in the 'SAP ERP Solution Browser' (Customer tool to identify new features and functions with focus on SAP ERP )

There you can define the 'Source/Target' Release Versions and the delta functionality will be available.

There is lot difference between 4.6c and 6.0

ecc 6.0 coming with inbuild webdynpro , BSP it is not 4.6c

In ecc we have interactive forms concept where it was not there in 4.6c

4.6c there is no unicode concept here we have unicode and non unicode

From the ABAP perspective,

The WS_* function modules used in 4.6c has become obsolete from 4.7C. All the WS_* FMs have been replaced by GUI_* FMs.

(ii) Concept of Unicode is introduced.

(iii) Few tables have been modified in ECC6.0.

Tables TVARV & TTREX have been replaced by TVARVC & TTREXN respectively.

Hi,

in ECC6 have to change absolute function modules like WS_UPLOAD change in

GUI_UPLOAD.

AND we have check

Unicode and Non Unicode,

Delta customizing,

Tables,

Data entries check,

and depends on functionality will be change.

Hi,

Check some of the unicode error messages and solutions below:

1. Error:In "TEXT MODE" the "ENCODING" addition must b

Sol: We need to add 'ENCODING DEFAULT' Statement at the end of the OPEN DATA SET statement

2. Error:For Tab delimeter they are using ASCII values like '09' but in unicode it won't support

Sol:we need to CL_ABAP_CHAR_UTILITIES=>HORIZONTAL_TAB constant. For any Special characters use this Class constants.

3. Error:If there is an internal table with include structure and that structure is Deep structure

Sol:We should replace that internal table with that structure type standard table of

4. Error:WS_UPLOAD, UPLOAD ,WS_DOWNLOAD and DOWNLOAD FM's Should replace with GUI_DOWNLOAD and GUI_UPLOAD

Sol:Replace with GUI_UPLOAD and GUI_DOWNLOAD and check the import and export parameter types , do the changes accordingly. Because FILENAME paramater type is different because of this it will give dump.

5. Error: Issue using SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1 Function module

Sol:After this FM we should put COMMIT WORK

6. Error: In Print programs if there is any selection parameter type 'nast'

Sol: First check this paricular print program is calling from any other program using SUBMIT statement then add NO-DISPLAY option at that parameter level.
