updating Custom field through BAPI

I am updating a field through BAPI

The new field is added to include structure which is used in several structures in turn.

when i try to update the new field through BAPI .. i am getting a short dump saying field sap trying to update is protected against changes ..

i am using BAPI SALESORDERChange

this is custom field updating through extensionin.

If a fields is not in the standard bapi structure, it's arranged in order to be available for updating by BAPI.

It has to be inserted in VBAKKOM, VBAKKOMX, BAPE_VBAK, BAPE_VBAKX or VBAPKOM, VBAPKOMX, BAPE_VBAP, BAPE_VBAPX.

U need to use the extension structure in order to transfer the value of the new field to BAPI.
