Dear Srinath,

SAP has its own database and tie up with oracle database.

if you write any select querry or etc., the system (RDBMS) wil convert into oracle understandable format.

so, there is an interface to converting the querries from SAP to NON SAP.

SAP internally using ORACLE database.

you can talk with BASIS people to get the proper information.

hi Srinath,

SAP does not have an own DB. SAP is able to communicate with a number of different DBs (Oracle, MS-SQL, ...).

So what about MaxDB??? It's SAP's own database isn't it? -;)

MaxDB is only shipped with NetWeaver Sneak Preview...In normal NetWeaver or R/3 installations, SAP can use Oracle, Informix, DB2, AS400 and even SQLServer...

yeah, you are right, however originally it was not SAP, they only bought it later. Any client is using that? On the other hand: "SAP has its own DB." SAP as company or SAP as the ERP? Different understanding, different answer...
