what is customizing & application data

Hi everyone,

I want to do a client copy. Im confused aobut which profile to choose while doing client copy. Can anyone explain what is application data and what is customizing data ? if possible with an example.

Hi,

customising data means CONFIGURATION.

application data means transactional and master data.

users masters meand user accounts data (logins)

Can you explain it with an example about what data constitute customizing data, what data constitute application data and also change documents.

Maybe if you can tell us what the purpose of the source client is, and what the target client is going to be for.

That way we can give you some suggestions.

(by the way, this is more of a basis question, not security)

Hi Vinod,

To determine the purpose of a table wherein the data that u r looking for resides, the client copy tool uses the delivery class assigned.

Try this:

Goto SE16->DD02L->Use following values in the field Delivery Class CONTFLAG to browse tables.

The various delivery classes are:

A->Application table (master and transaction data)

C->Customizing table, maintenance only by cust., not SAP import

L->Table for storing temporary data, delivered empty

G->Customizing table, protected against SAP Upd., only INS all.

E->Control table, SAP and customer have separate key areas

S->System table, maint. only by SAP, change = modification

W->System table, contents transportable via separate TR objects

Customizing data is generally in tables with delivery classes C, G, E and S.<as per SAP Help>

So browse the tables with each delivery class and find out the EXAMPLES that you are looking for !!
