Problem creating Billing Request Items against a contract via IDoc

I am working on the data migration of contracts from our legacy system to SAP. For the load we are using LSMW and an IDoc with the Message Type being a Z version of CRMXIF_ORDER_SAVE_M.

I am able to load a contract with a Finance Item, Physical Item, Service Item etc however, I am receiving an error when loading Billing Request Items against the Finance Item and Service Items.

I am receiving the error The item category 'XXXX' is not permitted for product 'XXXXXXXX' against all the billing items I am trying to load.

I have searched other forums and found this message to be related to the Item Category Determination configuration that is set up. I have checked the values of the various items under the contract I am loading and I can see that there are entries for these combinations. So this doesn't explain why the error is appearing.

My only thought is that there may be a problem linking the Billing Items to the parent items so the category values aren't being retrieved correctly. I am populating the parent item number in the billing item records so I don't know why this would happen.

I am hoping someone will be able to help me find what else could be causing this error to appear.

I would say: post your idoc in foreground, step by step in order to find out where the error pops up...
