Regarding field lengh

Hi all,

I am using vbeln in one select query,

actually the field length is 10 characters, but value of the field

is 23899 only, so i am not able to get the result in select query, could u please help in this,

addition is when value of the field length is 10 characters also ,we have to get the result or nine or eight, but only when

the field length is 10 only we are getting value

please help me out in this issue.

Hi Vinesh ,

You need to add 0s at the beginnig and make the lenght equal to 10 before you use it in the where clause.

You can use a converison exit to acheive this .

Use the Function module

CONVERSION_EXIT_ALPHA_INPUT

to convert your value 23899 into 0000023899 and they sue that value for your select query.

Use FM CONVERSION_EXIT_ALPHA_INPUT

to populate 0's to field(vbeln) in the where condition ...

Hi Siddivinesh,

suppose the name of the field holding vbeln value is V_VBELN.

Use conversion routine ( CONVERSION_EXIT_ALPHA_INPUT)for the field V_VBELN which makes the value to be converted into the SAP format.

For ex:

CALL FUNCTION 'CONVERSION_EXIT_ALPHA_INPUT'

EXPORTING

input = V_VBELN

IMPORTING

OUTPUT = V_VBELN.

This will make zeros to be appended at the beginning. I mean if its value is 32456 it will be converted to 0000032456.
