In alv grid display, when i giving ref tab, ref fieldname in field catalog, it shows the field headings as dictionay lables, but i want to display my own labes. i used seltext_m but i didnt get them

Hi,

Dont write ref_fieldname .

It wont show the original field name in the output.

Go with following parameters,

I_FIELDCAT-COL_POS =

I_FIELDCAT-FIELDNAME =

I_FIELDCAT-TABNAME =

I_FIELDCAT-LZERO =

I_FIELDCAT-SELTEXT_L =

I_FIELDCAT-OUTPUTLEN =

I_FIELDCAT-REF_TABNAME =

In your fieldcatalog change the values of seltext_l , seltext_m and seltext_s for the appropriate fields. The field heading would be automatically changed to the value you provide.

FIELDCAT-FIELDNAME = 'MATKL' .

FIELDCAT-TABNAME = 'FIELDCAT' .

FIELDCAT-FIX_COLUMN = 'X' .

FIELDCAT-OUTPUTLEN = 'X' .

APPEND FIELDCAT .

CLEAR FIELDCAT .

COL_POS is of type I

Yuo can use the below code :

Once fieldcatalog is filled by SAP table standrd description.

loop at gt_fieldcat.

if gt_fieldcat-fieldname = 'FIELDNAME'.

gt_fieldcat-coltext = 'Description'.

gt_fieldcat-seltext_s = 'Description'.

gt_fieldcat-seltext_l = 'Description'.

gt_fieldcat-seltext_m = 'Description'.

modify gt_fieldcat.

clear gt_fieldcat.

endif.

endloop.

i have written this and i am getting the heading of seltext_m field....

l_r_fieldcat-ref_fieldname = 'VBELN'.

l_r_fieldcat-no_out = ' '.

l_r_fieldcat-input = 'X'.

l_r_fieldcat-edit = 'X'.

l_r_fieldcat-key = 'X'.

l_r_fieldcat-col_pos = 2.

l_r_fieldcat-seltext_m = 'Sales Order'.

APPEND l_r_fieldcat TO g_t_fieldcat.

CLEAR l_r_fieldcat.

hi sekhar,

if you are doing everything right in your code then seltext_m should be fine.

you just think you didn't maybe because the default display of your columns in the ALV is too short for what you have assigned in the seltext_m (try resizing them at the display of your alv).

then, ideally, assign seltext_l and seltext_s as well.
