Keep index in presentation server

Hello friends,

I want to keep index in presentation server for my database table. whenever i access the table, i should use that index file which is present in presentation server and retrieve the files from database. the performance should be good when we accessing through this way.

i am looking forward to see your idea's.

Hi Raja,

you cannot keep your index, but you can have it Application layer (without creating it on database).

While creating secondary index there is radio button "No Database Index".

CREATION of Index

go to SE11

enter table name

press display

from menu GOTO-> indexes

press create button

enter the fields for which you need the index

save and activate

use those fields in the Where condition of the select statement and see

Hi Raja,

While creating secondary index you have option either to create index at which level. You can specify to create index in selected database, all databases or just create index at your application layer.

When you create index at application layer only, ABAP Kernel will take care of optimizing your performance, whenever select query is submitted to database it will not utilize database indexes in that case (as index will be at application layer only). when you write Select Query, SAP interprets and translate it in language understood by backend database (Oralce, SQL etc)..
