Repairs

Hello,

Where can I learn more about the concept of "Repairs" in an ABAP system.

Repair = making a change to an object in a system that is not the original source system for the object results in the SAP system referring to this as a repair.

Background: We have two landscapes for our ECC system. 1) Project 2) Production Support. This architecture was recommended by SAP so help us manage lengthly projects while still having the ability to QUICKLY support production with different (older) configurations and object versions.

Example Scenario:

Object X is created in the Project Landscape and it goes to production. Later it is determined that there is a problem with Object X. Object X is then modified on the PRODUCTION SUPPORT landscape (not it's original source system). At this point the SAP system throws an Information Message about making "repairs".

Questions:

1) What implications are there for repairs? How does the status "repair" impact us later?

2) Is there a way to reset the "repair flag"? Would that even be necessary?

3) Is there a way to change the source system for the object later? (I can explain this scenario too, but I didn't want to make this any longer than it is already)

Thanks for taking the time to read through this.
