But if we do not give the host name, how will it reach the correct server from which we need to read the file from.

As said it is not our own R/3 server, it is an external server.

Regards,

Prabaharan.G

Hi,

Our requirement is to read a file which is in the external third party FTP server. I checked the function module RZL_READ_FILE_REMOTE_SH. The function module has the parameter 'HOST' in its importing section.

1) what value is to be passed to this parameter host . Is it the IP address or the host name of the external server.

2) Does it require an underlying RFC connection with this host to be maintained in R/3.

3) What would be the format of the value to be passed to the parameter 'DIRECTORY' in the function module. Does it require any prefixing with '
' or any other directory indicators.

Regards,

Prabaharan.G

Hi

Firstly this parameter is not mandatory and can be ignored. It should be the host name of the external server if you have one available and not the ip address.

Hope that clarifies your query to some extent.

Thanks

Nag

P.S : Reward points if suitable
