Enhancement for FM_FUNCTION transction

Hi,

I need to add custom fields to transaction FM_FUNCTION. I have been unable to find any user exits or badi. Does anyone know how I may go about making changes to this transaction?

Hello,

If there is no user-exit available, you have two options.

First option is to enhanace table TFKB with an append structure containing the field that you need then register standard object R3TR/ FUGR/ 0FMP_ADD_ON via SSCR so that you can modify the Table Maintenance screen of View V_FM_TFKB to add your changes in.

The other option is a bit of a workaround from the user's perspective -> First enhance table TFKB with an append structure containing the field that you need (same as above). Then copy the standard Maintenance View V_FM_TFKB to, say, ZV_FM_TFKB. Now generate Table Maintenance Dialog for ZV_FM_TFKB in your customer Function Group range - modify generated screen if you have to (look & feel). Now either copy parameter transaction FM_FUNCTION to ZFM_FUNCTION and change the value of VIEWNAME to ZV_FM_TFKB via SE93 or change standard transaction FM_FUNCTION directly with field VIEWNAME value to ZV_FM_TFKB so that this always points to your new View with the enhancements you've added. Please make sure/discuss with users if you are changing values of standard transaction as it might impact business if someone's using the standard transaction and wants to see the standard screen.

Thanks for replying. I have been able to add my custom field to TFKB, but since no user-exit is available, I am unable to modify the transaction screen, so I may pass values to and from the table.

The second option you mentioned is not allowed, they do not want to create a Z copy of the FM_FUNCTION transaction.

If they don't want to create a Z copy of the FM_FUNCTION transaction then the only way to achieve this would be to register the object R3TR/ FUGR/ 0FMP_ADD_ON in SSCR and then modify its Table Maintenance screen to be able to "see" the values you passed via the append structure in table TFKB i.e. as per option 1 in my previous post.

Table maintenance (SM30) alerted me that V_FM_TFKB is obsolete. I will have to continue searching for another way.
