search forum with 'BAPI', there is a thread with same inquiry.

regarding BAPI's , they are just FM without CHANGING and EXCEPTION parameters.

they are interface between SAP and NON-SAP.

Hi, BAPI is one kind of function module can be called remotely, and create following some rules, that make them can be used in BO. I think there is a lot of resource talk about the BAPI like 'help.sap.com', so it looks no need to add some content.

something I want to addition to Raja mentioned.

From the http://ifr.sap.com, you can get the XML file which descript the BAPI defination.

Like the WSDL, it is helpful to us when we want to generate a BAPI proxy in XI or non-SAP side, if we can't connect to SAP server directly.
