Hi friends,

I am a bit worried about my career in the next few years as I am surrounded by these discussions/trends in the field of ABAP programming. I have a decent experience in ABAP but not so good at programming

ABAP Objects/Java/Netweaver/latest developments.

I am not sure of what to learn and when to learn...

Can you guys suggest/advice me on this..

Hi Srinivas

Why be worried on these things? Changes are part of Human life and same holds for a programmer's!

As now you are comfortable in core ABAP, do some planning and try to learn new skills.

And the skills you mentioned: ABAP Objects / Java / Netweaver, i hope are not the last one you need to conquer. I promise, its going to be a continuous process, more technologies will be there in the market in the future.

So, try to make learning a continuous process.

Ya, it will be good idea to learn ABAP objects first of all because ABAP programming is slowly moving towards object orientation. Then you can go for Netweaver.

And, ofcourse, don't try to learn each and everything, do some planning and not 'only planning'.

Cheers

Ashish Jain

Hi Srinivas,

Ashish is right.

Remember, once you are in IT, you become a fulltime student. You will have to learn new things / technolgies everyday.

So don't worry and adapt new technologies as they come along.

Warm Regards.

Pras Durafe
