Hi all,

Just quastion

I know i need user id and instaltion number to create devloper key.

Are dev keys user/client/instance specific?

Developer key is Installation specific. So you need User id and Installation number to get the Developer Key.

Its not client or instance specific. It is user specific ,

The developer key is created from an algorithm that uses Userid and installation number as input. So be aware and check the installation number of your production system!

As a lot of installations create the production system as a database copy of the original development system and NOT change the installation number the developers key will also work in the production system if the number and the UID are the same. If a person knows the key he or she cannot be stopped form reentering that key if the same uid is being used in the same installation number

The only solution in that case will be not to allow the same userid on the production system. We always use a special uid for developers in the development system. For instance if the use would get the uid JSMIT according to the normal standard the uid in the development system will be D_JSMIT and that notation will not be allowed in any other system!
