getting access key

if i create a program like ABCD it is asking for access key

now my doubt is how to get access key and can i create any program with this access key in any sap system ....

HI,

u can create with the name ABCD if u got the access key.

sap provided customer name space(start the name of the objects with Y/Z/y/z).if u start ur program name with y/z it will not ask u for the access key.

try creating program with name starting with Z....

for example......ZABCD

Hi Kiran,

Shouldn't you create your program starting with a 'Z'. Then if you have a developer key you will not need an access key.

See, you can not create any custom program which will not start with z, y. Standard programs are start with the other letters. If you want any access key to modify such program you have to get the access key From SAP company as they provide you the licence for your SAP installetion.

no its object specific,

you can't create a program starting with0ut 'Z' or 'Y' as SAP is not going to allow you, as the things which starts with any other letter is reserved for SAP only, as SAP is not a open source.

you can change the standard obhect by using access key, first you must have a developer key, one time process.

for object specific key you have to go for help.sap.com and get the key for the same.

ACCESS KEY - First of all its provided by SAP. You can get the key from http://service.sap.com -> SAP SUPPORT PORTAL -> Keys & Requests -> SCCR Keys -> Registration. Here u can register a DEVELOPER or an OBJECT, by this time SAP will give the ACCESS KEYS.

**Note : To access http://service.sap.com u should have S number login or like that.

Only after obtaining that ACCESS KEY, SAP will allow the DEVELOPER to create some objects or change or modify Delivered objects.

Why ACCESS KEY - For creating or accessing any object some one should be responsible. Suppose, any issue arises with an object then can easily track the details who has created or modified.

there r 2 kind of keys

1) developer key (which allows u to create ,change Z programs

2) Access Key ,which is required to change SAP standard codes

To be able to change programs, programmers must be assigned a "Developer Key". This is linked to the user's id.

To change a standard SAP object (eg Function Module) you will be asked for an Access Key. You get this key from OSS. It allows SAP to keep a track of which standard objects you modify.

You will need to log onto OSS and register this object. Once you do this, you will be given the Access Key. no other way.

So finally it is not possible to create a objects starting with non z or y.

can u plz tell me how to get this sid to obtain the access key ? the only id i got from sap is P1784250950 which i got during registering for sap but i am unable to log into

http://service.sap.com using this id 😞 plz help...

my installation number is INITIAL
