Hello you - looking at a post from 10 years ago ...

If you're still doing IBIP trhough LSMW like I am,

Make sure that you DO NOT maintain the TCODE field when creating the item. This is what was generating the "Formatting error in the field RMIPM-WPTXT; see next message" for me.

There was never anything wrong with what I had in the WPTXT field .

When you're using structure IBIPMPLA, you have to make sure that you create an item along with the maintenance plan.

If you maintain the transaction on the maintenance item (structure IBIPMPOS), then you will create the item outside the maintenance plan. For example, I was maintaint transaction IP04.

Because the plan was created without an item, I got the "Formatting error message"

What version SAP or NW or you running? I found no SAP Note... If you're sure there's no enhancement stepping on your data value, you could consider opening a message to SAP.
