Check if master data value exists

I have a startroutine in which I get data from a CSV file.

I get a material number from the CSV file. I would like to check if this material number exists in the 0material master data objekt - if not, then I would like to delete the data_package.

How do I do that in a smart way?

Do I really have to fill an internal table with these master data values?

(It is not only material numbers I have to do this check on, it is as well for other master data values that I get through the CSV file.)

There is an option in the info package which make the system not to accept values that it does not know.
