Hi Abapers,

I have done one alv which was executing fine. suddenly it went to dump

Runtime error: READ_REPORT_LINE_TOO_LONG.

please help me... very urgent....

Hi Premraj,

In SE38 from the top menu, goto Utilities --->Settings

in the ABAP editor tab open editor tab

you will see a checkbox at the bottom "Downward-Compat.Line Length"

Check this checkbox and activate your program.

I hope this will resolve the problem.

I think you are using REUSE_ALV_FIELDCATALOG_MERGE fm . If it is so then your program code should not exceed the length 72 for any line. Because it is reading your report line by line and put it in a int table of length 72 char. So just check your code for each line if it exceeds the length 72 or not. If it is exceeds 72 then split the line in two lines.
