see, in r/3 architecture, it is the middle layer. it contains work process, buffer everyhting in it. to see files on application server use SE11

Hi,

application server is a middle layer which connects the presentation server and database.

when u run any report it is throgh presentation server.

Application server stores variable info,user info and than fetch data from Database according to user requirements and get back that info to presentation server and we got our output.

Hi..

Application Server is where all the Programs will get Executed .

It will be in between presentation and Database Servers in an R/3 System.

Server that provides a range of services to run the R/3 System.

The application server provides the following services:

😧 Dialog

V: Update

E: SAP lock administration (enqueue)

B: Background processing

S: Print formatting (spool)

G: SAP gateway

An application server consists of a dispatcher and one or more work processes for each service. The dispatcher manages processing requests, and work processes execute them.

Each application server provides at least one dialog service and one gateway. It may also provide further services.

Only one application server can offer the SAP lock administration service.
