xml attachment not opening

Hi ,

I am sending an xml document as attachment which is to be open with word application. at the recipients end when I open the document I was getting an error saying illegal xml charcter could not open. then I downloaded the file . Opened the file with Notepad , just saved it. then I opened it with the word application it is opening without any error.

it has become big pain to me.I saw many posts on this , but no proper solution.

If any body come across this situation, solved it , Please suggest me how to go about.

Hi Jaffer,

Try to open the file in internet explorer before transferring to the notepad and then saving. Here IE will tell you the location of error. Then you can open using TEXTPAD application and goto that location and see what is the character there. Sometimes it will be some null character.

Hi ,

I am working with wordml, so it should be opened with MSword.

before i open in word, If I Open the document in Notepad and save. then open msword. it's working fine.

But I want to avoid the step opening in Notepad and saving?

any clues.

we had faced similar problem and this is what we have done to solve it.

convert the xml from string to xstring using FM

SCMS_STRING_TO_XSTRING

then convert xstring to binary fromat using

SCMS_XSTRING_TO_BINARY

converted binary is then sent as attachment over email

Hi These,

Thanks a lot for the information, But I am already using. Thes fm's.

now I am using the FM 'SO_DOCUMENT_REPOSITORY_MANAGER'

which is working fine. Only problem here is , A dialogue is coming up. I need to suppress the dialog ?

Any clues are of great help to me.

Hi Jaffer,

I want to send email with xml attachment. and has same problem. Can you please tell me how you solved this issue. If you use FM 'SO_DOCUMENT_REPOSITORY_MANAGER', how you suppress the dialog? It is appreciate if you can help on this.
