up gradation means

up grading the system to one vertion to another vertion

suppose now your working on 4.7 ERP vertion and the client wants the new vertion in his project like ECC 5.0

then basis people will upgrade the server vertion

this process is called vertion upgradation

Upgrade is 'grading up' the version of current software with a higher version of that.

Upgrade, in SAP can be, Kernel upgrade, Database Upgrade, OS Upgrade, SAP Upgrade. ABAP developers play a critical role in the upgrade process. actuaaly SAP is ending servies to older versions , so now the customers are upgrading their sap systems to ecc versions ,

here the main work is unicode syntax check,

and removing the obsolete keyword functionmodules and keywords and replacing the latest ones
