Future abap....

Hi all,

I am an ABAPer. And my company is asking me to upgrade myself, as the future will be very competative and new technologies are emerging.

I need some expert advise on this. Please tell me on which specific area if concentrate will be good for me.

Hi,

There are various options:

1. Netweaver/XI

2. BW

3. EP

But ABAP would still be requried. You can also learn JAVA. Advanced ABAP concepts viz BADI, BAPI, USer-Exit, IDOC etc.

if u want to upgrade ur self then my suggetion is its better to go for XI EP, AND BIW is also good

Hi,

Just go through the Cross applications like ALE, EDI,IDOC like that and OOPS ALV and BDC using through BAPI

Hi Naveen,

Yes Webdynpro also has good scope. You can also look for MDM/APO.

It completely depends upon your interest. As such ABAP is always going to be there. Its not going to be completely obselete.

Hi Naveen,

Its great that ur company wants u to upgrade. First see which area interests you. Then if u know a bit of java u can go for EP or XI. you can go for BIW with Java. Also consider what your company actually wants you to be in. Consider all these facts and then take time do the research and then learn a new technology. Since the direction you are going to take shud be there for sometime to come in future.

Netweaver is the 'in' thing right now

technologies such as XI/PI, MDM, WebDynpro etc are going to be in demand

As per all said, i think is good to focus on XI,BW

HR-ABAP alsoa vast field , Many BSP parts are integreated with it...so you can try that also
