customer master user exit

Hi,

I am trying to pass an error message when clicking save in the contact person tab of customer master and want the cursor to be at a specific field. I am using the following code

SET CURSOR FIELD 'KNVK-NAME1' LINE sy-stepl.

MESSAGE E680(f2).

It is giving the error message but moving to the adjacent tab i.e. export data. Can anyone help me on this as to what is going wrong?

Are you doing the SET CURSOR in the PBO?

If you do it during PBO it should work as you expect.

Outside PBO, it advances to the next screen in the list as noted in the ABAP Keyword Documentation:

<i>During PBO processing, this statement sets the cursor in the screen layout of the current screen. The cursor can be positioned by entering a screen element after FIELD or by entering a specific position using col and lin. Outside of PBO processing, the cursor is positioned in the next list displayed on the screen.</i>

I think that your cursor is advancing to the next list, so I would guess that your SET CURSOR code is outside the PBO.

You can get to the ABAP Keyword Documentation by pressing F1 on the keyword in you ABAP source.
