everyone telling that SM30 is for maintaining the table(addition or deletion of records). but we can do addition and deletion of records in se11. then what is the purpose of Sm30????????????

Hi,

We can directly play with the data using SE11. But this is not ideal. The control of SE11 is not directly given to the end user.

If the end user would like to make some changes to the data, he would be handicapped as he doesn't have the access to SE11.

In such situation Table Maintenance Generator would help him by giving an interface.

Manual entries in table can be maintained ( New record can be inserted / existing can be modified )

use transaction SM 30, if the table maintenance for the table is generated.

In the past when users have needed access to a table for maintenance purpos

es we have developed a solution. General access to SM30 is not desirable so

we built a maintenance dialogue front end on the table with authorisation

object and a custom transaction, and then gave the transaction and the auth

orisation to the user. This way he could only access that one table whereas

with SM30 he could have run wild through every table in the system.

Hi subash

in SE11 u can creat table and fields for that table

you don't have any access to creat any records in the SE11

if u want to enter data in a table

you have to go for SE16

here you can enter data by record by record

and delete the records by record by record

if u want to delete 100 records

and if you want insert 100 records at a time

that will possible in SM30
