Reg setting up Logical database

Hi,

I need to set up logical file system for generating Idoc. can any one help me in setting up logical file system and how to config the idoc to that location.

Try transaction FILE (no, I'm not kidding).

In fact though, you don't need a logical file system for Idocs. You need to set up a PORT. This is done in transaction WE21. Using the PORT, you establish a physical path, you don't use logical file names.

The PORT is attached to your PARTNER and MESSAGE TYPE definitions. All these settings can be accessed using the area menu WEDI (just put WEDI in the okcode at the SAP easy access menu).

When I went to we21, Do I need to create a file port?..please guide me in steps to do..

Hi Kisu,

Please acknowledge (using the point system) when people have helped you with something.

In answer to your question, yes, you need a file port (just noticed that in fact you can use either a logical path or a physical path - my mistake).

You will need to fill in all the tabs according to the details of your implementation. Key ones are Outbound File and Inbound File.

Hi,

I am not sure I understood your requirement. Your heading said "Reg setting up Logical database". But in your description you are asking about "logical file system". Then you say IDOC configuration. Can you please explain what you want to do?

You can create logical file using transaction FILE. If you are talking about RFC Destinations for Idocs(not logical file system), then you are talking about SM59. If you are looking for configuring logical systems for ALE distribution or workflow configuration, then you do that in customizing transaction SPRO under "Basis Components~~>ALE~~>Logical Systems--> Define Logical Systems".

Please let us know which one it is.
