Applying OSS Note

Hi,

Can somebody tell me what do people mean by "Applying OSS Note"? How does SAP apply OSS note to a specific object or Transaction? Can somebody give me explain in detail?

Hi,

Use the transaction SNOTE to apply OSS notes, we don't need access key to apply oss note and it checks if the note is valid for the current version.

Hi Phani Prasad,

In order to fix the problems in R/3 system, SAP will asks to download an OSS notes which is a ".car" file.

To work with a CAR File do the following at OS Level:

Get into OS as <sapsid>adm

Copy the .CAR file to a Temporary Directory.

Uncompress the file with SAPCAR

Copy the the data file generated in the data transport directory

( ej: = /usr/Sap/trans/data).

Copy the the cofile file generated in the cofiles transport directory

( = ej: /usr/Sap/trans/cofiles).

Run transaction STMS

Upload the support package with SPAM transaction and the support package will show "New support packages".

Manually Applying OSS note on SAP Standard Program

For any SAP standard program modification, you are required to login to OSS and request for a repair program Access key.

Follow this step to obtain the Program Access key:

Menu Path: System -> Services -> SAP Service (Transaction code OSS1)

Click the Registration button

Click Register Object

Double click R/3 Value Contract

Fill in the Object Registration for Installation:

For e.g.

PGMID/Object/Name: R3TR FUGR MIGO

SAP release: 46C

Finish, click the Register button

Select the Key number and use the Copy and Paste short key to copy the Access key

You are now able to modify the SAP standard program.

Finish the modification, do remember to transport it to the production system after all the necessary testing.

Hi,

An OSS Note may be a set of steps to carry out manually on an SAP system and can sometimes be implemented using the Note Assistant.

For more information on the note assistant goto:

-> service.sap.com/notes

-> select "note assistant" on the left pane

Guys i too have the same issue. I have to apply sap Note 946235 for turning of the messages FF724, FF760, FF787. This note if for turning off the messages.

The notes Solution: says that i should call transaction sm30 and for table t100s change the setting for these messages to switched off.

So does it mean that i should follow the exact same instruction in the sap note solution, because in this forum i have seen some thing to do with ".car" file and install it and stuff.
