Regarding IDOCs

hey guys,

I am new trying to practise IDOCs with small examples.

following book Arvind Nagpal with John pitlak -Second edition.

I created small example with basic IDOC types(ie,for Summing customer weekly report in monthwise ).Now they said we want to release the IDOC types and segments.

why we have to release that...if i am practising in single system, cant i practise IDOCs programing similar to real time application usuages.

just want to confirm whether IDOCS can be practised in single pc itself(Do we have any examples for that?).

You are not releasing the transport requests associated with your segments when you release an IDOC segment. 'Release' in your context means that your segments will be ready to use and a development phase has been completed.

If then you need to change the segment you will need to cancel release, make your ammendments and finally release it again.

Hi,

1. You can practise between different clients (mandants) of your SAP system.... port => tRFC

2. As well if you use a file (of your application server) to send outbound IDOCs

3. You can use test tool (transaction) WE19

could you pls give me some more idea or listings to practise myself in single system using idocs(just like johans advise in prev reply).

since i am dont have complete knowledge on idocs..just

thinking of practising myself.
