Hi,

Interface means the manner in which a SAP system in connected to a non-SAP or legacy system.

There are different means of communication between a SAP and a legacy system and generally it is through IDocs(Intermediate Documents).

Idocs are inbound or outbound.Inbound Idocs are those idocs which carry data from a legacy system to the SAP system and outbound Idocs are Idocs which carry data from SAP system to the legacy system.

The method used for commication between SAP/Non-SAP systems can be various such as EDI(Electronic Data Interchange) or ALE but Idocs are the information carriers between systems.

Hope it was useful.

Thanks,

Sandeep.
