What happens when a table is activated in DD?

i mean what all the things that will be refreshed or updated?

HI,

WHEN YOU ACTIVATA A DATA BASE TABLE THAT AFFECTS THE WHOLE DATA BASE AND IT WILL BE AFFECTING THE TABLES WHICH ARE RELATED TO THIS ONE AND THE PROGRAMMES WHICH RUN ON THIS TABLE.

Hi,

If the table is new a Database table is created in the underlaying database.

If the table is existing and if you have done some changes which needs conversion like changing the type of a field or length of a field Table conversion is done.

You need to active all filed ,

Go to SE 11 give table name.

go to ---> adjust database table

click it.

Pavan,

The concept of Activation of a table comes when we create a Ztable.When we activate this table all the changes ie adding fields,insertion,modifications will get updated into the ztable.If you have made any changes to this ztable but not activated it those changes will not be reflected.Morever you can't even transport a object which is in non-active state.

If any doubt revert it.

Hi pavan,

Whenever you activate the DB table 4 things was happened in back ground.

1) Form same table in the data base level.

2) Primary Index can be prepraed.

3) Memory can be allocated

4) Secondary keys will be checked.

When you activate the Table .....

it wiil refresh all the Objects included in the table in SE11 relateed on the Prgrams .

they are ,

1. Fields

2. data elements.

3. struture .

4.views .

5. search help /match code objects .

6. lock objects .

and it s technical setting and attributes if any text then text table updates .

finally the created table will be inserted in the DD table storing table , and view ...etc .

Hi,

When tables, types (data elements, structures, table types) and views are activated, they are placed at the disposal of the runtime environment in the form of runtime objects. These runtime objects contain the information about the object in a form that is optimal for access by ABAP programs and screens. The runtime objects are buffered so that ABAP programs and screens can access the information relevant to them quickly.
