Tr Req got created automatically under a task..why?

Hi Folks,

I had a program which creates a container with all the ztcodes.

Now I had added a new tcode in that container,but instead of me creating a transport request it has promopted a windwo asking that "it will create a new task" and the Transport request got created under that task automatically.So,far I used to create the transport request but this is the first time that I came across such a situation.May I know what could be the reason.

In SE09 I had checked,there is a new request under this task.Everything is fine,but I want to know why.

Can anyone here please throw some light on this.

Dear Kiran,

When ever you create a request it will create

Request

(ii) Task

-A Request may contain any number of Tasks.

-And there may hame many tasks for one request.

-Task contains object names... such as abap program, data dictionary objects, function modules,message class, text elements... etc.

-If you create a object that object may contains tasks like report program, data elements, text elements, message class... and these tasks are stored in one unique request.

This all I know buddy.MY question is generally I create a request by clicking on the create button in the transport request window,but this time I didn't get that instead I got a window saying that it will create a new task and I clikced the tick mark.

Now if I go and see in SE09 there is a new transport request with todays date under a task.That is what I am wondering about.

NOTE:-I didn't get the create transport request window itself.But the program is working fine and even reflecting the changes as of now in Development.I don't know whether it will cause any probs when transporting.That is what I am worried about.

Hi,

I think, the program is already edited by somone else and that person has not released the request. So your task will be added to his correction request.

But I didnt get what you mentioned, a CR under the task.

In general, under a correction task there will be several tasks. But you mentioned reverse. Plz give some more clarification.

The problem that may arise is, both of you shd release the tasks so that it can be trasported. If one person have some problems in releasing the task, both of you can't release the request.

Hi Kiran,

There wont be any problem while transporting this transport request. Have you checked the user name of the main transport request?

Generally a new task will be created when the owner of the transport request is different.

Lets suppose that Mr. X is developing a program under transport request 123 and left the project in the middle of development. Now suppose, Mr. Y has taken this development and changed the user name of the TR to Y. If he tries to save the program now, it will notifies us that a new task will be created under the TR (displays original TR number).

Or when the object is locked under another user, it will create the new task under the same TR.

I think you are close to understanding my problem.The username is showing different.But that is an year back,now I am having a different user name.

Yes,there is a task 79 which didn't get released underwhich my new request got tagged.Even if it didn't get released it should show up the transport request window giving me an option whether I want to include it in the same request or create a new one.Do you mean to say the change in username has something to do with this.

Fine,I had analysed a bit and giving here,there is a task 79 under which there is a request 80 with a username ABD and program XYZ in 2006 which didn't get released.

Now in 2007 the username is changed to DEF and again I made some changes to XYZ for which the transport request got created under the task 79.I think that is why I got such a window.

It won't be any problem right while transporting?

Small correction..

You are saying Request Under a Task...it's not a TASK/s under a REQUEST..

Yes, as you analysed it correctly, if a Request is already open pertaining to that Program (means Unleased request/task related to that program) it won't ask for the creation of a new Request next time, when you tried to change something in that program(though it is after year/s) with a different user, it just asks for the Creation of a new task.

So here another task created with new user

Nothing wrong..But to release it, we have to relase the tasks

You can release this task?

but check whether you can release the old task which is there already

I think you have to login with that user and to release or take the help of a bais guy to release it.

If there is no problem for releasing that Old Task, then nothing wrong for transporting it.. Go ahead..

These transport requests always puts me in dock in one way or the other.

Fine let me put it in laymans language.

under this

1.95-got created today Program XYZ. (not released yet as i created now) usrnme is DEF.

2.80-got created in 2006 Program XYZ (not released yet) username is ABC

So,what should i do now.First ask the basis guy to release 80 and then 95.

You can change the owner of the task and release it . If the User XYZ and ABC are not currently working.

If the users exists in the system, then respective persons should release the request

How can I change the username ABC to XYZ?

Is it a right way to do ?

what if I release the request without changing the usernames?

Will the tasks created by two different users under the same request will get transported without any problem?

I am an ABAPer and will not be dealing with the RELEASE.All my worry is will these changes get transported without any problem or not.If they get then I will be the happiest person on the earth.

You cannot release the task without changing the owner of the request.

You wouldnt encounter any problem regarding changes being transported.

Changes would go fine to the consolidation system.

Before changing the owner of the request you need to ensure whether you can do this. I mean logically you need ask the orginal owner of the request whether you

can do it. If that orginal owner would have kept the request open for some reason then its not fair that you release it. If that person had left the company or so you can go ahead and change the owner ( with prior permission from seniors).

To change the owner select the request and press F5.

Option is availiable in the menu items request/task ->change owner

Thanks a ton Buddy.I think there shouldn't be any problem in changing the username.So,once the username is changed all the task w.r.t this request will get moved without any problem.

So,inorder to release the request that got created today I have to change the username of the previous request which is under the same task.Without that I can't go ahead.

Better I put the ball in the Basis Consultants court so that he can take a decision on this.

Will get back to you,keep a watch on this thread.
