regarding messages

hi,

i have a statement like this.in this whats the purpose of MESSAGE-ID za.

because i am not able to understand the difference b/n statements like below.

REPORT z_ple_del_change_rpt MESSAGE-ID za .

MESSAGE e000 WITH text-t08.

and

MESSAGE e001(za).

here 'za' is message class.

Hi,

In reports MESSAGE-ID is used to sepcify the message id that ur going to use in the program.

If you specify the message id you can give the message like MESSAGE e000 WITH text-t08. Without specifying message id.

If you didnt specify the message id you have to use it every time.

If u give the message id in the report statement then no need to give the message class whever u r calling the message of the same message class,

Like this.

REPORT z_ple_del_change_rpt MESSAGE-ID za . 
MESSAGE e000 WITH text-t08.

If u don't give that then 

REPORT z_ple_del_change_rpt.
MESSAGE e000(ZA) WITH text-t08.

Hi,

The stement MESSAGE e001(za)

can be used when the message class 'ZA' is not defined in the report statement.

REPORT z_richa MESSAGE-ID 'ZA' .

MESSAGE e000 WITH text-001.

If it is specified in the report statement, then you can simply write message e001.

REPORT z_rich.

MESSAGE e000(ZA) WITH text-001.

Hi,

if u specify the message id at the beginning then when u want to display a message then no need to give the message and bracket.

For example

REPORT z_ple_del_change_rpt MESSAGE-ID za .

Now if u want to throw some message.U can write like this.

message i001

if u don't specify the message id at the start then,say for example

REPORT z_ple_del_change_rpt .

u need to give like this

MESSAGE e001(za).

Message - id is the message class.transaction code is SE91.

HI.

SE91 -Its create new message class.

Procedure

To create a new message class from the ABAP Editor:

In the initial statement (for example, REPORT) or directly in the statement MESSAGE ID <id> enter a parameter value of up to 20 characters as a message ID, for example:

REPORT <name> MESSAGE-ID <message class>.

Messages are stored system-wide. The chosen message ID (message class) must not already exist in the system.

Double-click the message ID.

If you enter an ID that already exists in the system, the system calls up Message maintenance. In this case, enter a different ID. Once you have done this, the system asks you whether you want to create a new message class.

Choose Yes.

The system calls up Message maintenance.

Enter a brief description of the class in Short text.

Choose Save.

Result

You can add messages to your class by choosing the Messages tab. You can always return to the Message maintenance screen by double-clicking a message ID or a message number where it appears in your code.

MESSAGE-ID za : here za is a message class. but we can create message in local also without message class like MESSAGE e000 WITH text-t08.

but it will create problem when you are transport your object to production. please create message class for your programes.

Hi,

In this case

REPORT z_ple_del_change_rpt MESSAGE-ID za .

when program encounters MESSAGE e000 WITH text-t08.

it will get the message 000 from message class "za"

Here u need not have to mention as in the second case

i.e.MESSAGE e001(za).

where u mention the message class in "()".

Hi,

If you create a Message through transaction se91 means, you must give your Message-Id name with the Report program name like,

REPORT z_ple_del_change_rpt MESSAGE-ID za .

and then you can give the statement for msg like,

MESSAGE e000 WITH text-t08.

Otherwise u can create a msg like,

message 'Error' type ' I'. ---> I for information Message.

1 MESSAGE ' THE MATTER TO BE ENTERED ' TYPE 'I OR S OR W OR E OR X OR A'

2 MESSAGE I000(ZA)

Hi,

Text-008 is the text symbol.U can check it in the program

path ->Go to text elements in the menu -> then go to text symbols.U can find the text.

The messaage will be displayed with whatvere is stored in the text symbol text-008. In your program double click on this text symbol & you will taken to the screen where it is maintained or will be prompted to maintain the text.

text-008 is a text symbol which holds the message that has to be displayed,

u can view it by double-clicking on it.

or in GOTO->TEXT ELEMENTS->TEXT SYMBOL.

Hi,

It is text-symbols.You just copy paste the code and double clikc text-008.It will ask you for creation.Give yes and write some text like 'Hello' in that.Then activate it.Now you can see the message with text Hello.If you go to message class 'ZA'(tcode SE91) and check the message 000, it will have &.That & will be replaced by the value inside this text-008 in the program.
