Access Key for Development

Hi,

I have the access key for development and verified it by creating a Z program in SE38, which worked fine and I was able to save my Z program.

But when I go to VOFM, try to create my own formula say in 900 range, I am again prompted for a key and when I enter the same key it says incorrect key.

What am I missing here.

You need a new access key. The one you have is for developing Z objects not for modifying sap objects,send your object name to basis person and he/she will send you another access key.

Siva,

I have just been given this key by the security admin guy.

He seems to be not aware of another kind of key.

I know about DEVACCESS table, where I can see my uid alongwith others, Can you please tell me which table to look into for the SAP objects modify / create authority.

There two type of keys in SAP

1 Developer key - this is when you get login id first time,it required develper key to create zprograms or ztables ..

2. Access Key - when ever you want to change SAP Standard objects,then you need provide access key.

Talk to basis guy if you need access key,he will provide.

The developer key is specific to a developer.

Is the Access Key common or just one in the system. Is there an associated table with this. Can it be seen in the system who all have the access key just like one can see in DEVACCESS the list of users along with the dev key.

Hi,

The developer key is specific to a developer and can be used to create all the objects starting with Z or Y( example writing a Z report or a Z function module).

The access key is used to change standard SAP objects. They are the ones which doesnt start with Z or Y. For example try going to se38 give some program name which doesnt start with Z or Y and press create. The system will prompt you to put in the access key even though you have already keyed in the developer key for the same transaction(se38). I dont think there is any table to see all the access keys as they are alloted by SAP when you are in need to customize any standard SAP object. Your BASIS person is the right one to ask about.
