There is an option where u can check whether the field is relevant for change recording or not.</P><P></P><P>For eg, if you go to data element MATNR_D in SE12 and go the tab Further characterstics, you will find a check box "change document" checked. As far as i remember not all fields of a structure are "observed" and change to such a field does not result in a change pointer.
