i m trying to upload the initial balances uing direct input method, but getting error 'The file cannot be imported in this format'.. what could be the reason?

Hi Lucky,

There must be some special characters in the file. Just check.

there r no special characters in the file except '-' and '.'

errro Diagnosis

In several cases a file cannot be read.

The file contains fields of type 'I' or 'F'. The system cannot determine how the fields in the file are arranged.

This is a UNICODE system and you are trying to import non-character-type fields.

how to create file in different format???

hi,

file format and data element should be the same,

if u select dat file type in fm then u should maintain source file with fixed lenth,ex:if u give kunnr no then even in sourc file u should maintain 10 char for kunnr filed like that u maintain ur source file for the dat file type dat or asc.

maintain source file like that then try to uplaod.

Better define your structure of input using all the character fields so that you will not face this issue.
