Error Message in ALV Report

Hi All,

I have developed a report.

After start-of-selection, i have written a perform statement, in which the data is getting retrieved for printing the same in ALV layout.

If there is no data available in the table, the code will raise an error message stating ' No data is available". This error message statment is in this PERFORM statement....

But this error message will be triggered in the different page which will be blank...

Now user would like to have the message in the same page (selection screen).

How to resolve this issue....??????

Hi,

Just select all the Data in the At selection screen, then if there in no data then raise the error message, so this message will be come in the Selection screen.

Hi,

By saying a different page, you mean error message is displayed on a blank screen other than the selection screen?

If that's right, then as far as i know if you show error message at start-of-selection then the message is displayed in the blank screen.

If you still want to display a message and return back to the seelction-screen , then better display an information message and write LEAVE LIST-PROCESSING.

Hi Pavan ,

You can select the data in the event AT SELECTION-SCREEN , now if there is no data selected then raise an error message , and this message will be displayed at the bottom of the selection screen,

HI, before use of fm REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY, use describle table statement for output internal table. If it does not contain entries use write statement to display error message.

Hi,

when your internal table is empty

give the message like

when u r in start of selection event then

form

message i000( zmessage ) with ' no data found'.

stop.

endform.

this provides u again the selection screen,

Hi,

This can be solved in many ways.

1. At selection-screen event.

check any entry exist for your selection criteria and show error.

2. Show information message and use statment submit program or leave to transaciton if transaction code is available.

3. Call Selection-screen in your perform.
