Classical vs ALV

Why most of the reports are classical reports when we have many advantages for ALV.Other than version there is no other advantage of classical reports over ALV reports.

ALV Reports are not there from the begining of SAP

In older versions, I feel upto 4.5 we used to develop classical reports.

with 4.6 C we are using ALV lists and after that in ECC6.0 we are mostly using them.

Hi,

Sap converted most of the classical reports to alv reports. u can see most of them in classical bcose they have been created in the older version of sap. they are changing it and u can realise this in the new version of SAP .

hi,

The common features of report are column alignment, sorting, filtering, subtotals, totals etc. To implement these, a lot of coding and logic is to be put when we use Classical reporting. To avoid that we can use a concept called ABAP List Viewer (ALV).

This helps us to implement all the features mentioned very effectively.

By default it provides those options.
