Hi,

what is the difference between the dependent client and independent client ?

what is the difference between the sap script and report ?

and what objects are client dependent ane indpendent ?

<b>Difference between Dependent client and independent client.</b>

Suppose u have two clients say ,

client 1 - 600

client 2 - 800

Client independent means not dependent upon client. For example a report is client independent.ie, a report (zex1) which is created in client 600 can be accessed in both clients 600 and 800 and viceversa.

Client dependent means dependent upon client. For example script is client dependent ie, If u create a script (zscript1) in client 600 then, that script is accessible in client 600 only, we cannot access it in client 800 and viceversa.

If u want to access it in client 800 we have to transport it

Similarly , tables which are having mandt field is client dependent and which does not have mandt field are client independent.

<b>Difference between the sap script and report:</b>

Script is a form which has a layout set as per the company standards and can be used for external use too. Generally reports are designed for internal use for in house users

Hi Bhagwan,

All the objects defination which are stored in DDIC are the client independent.

For eg, Report, DB table defination, data element, etc.

The data is generally client dependent, but there are other objects also such as SAP script, number ranges, etc which are client dependent.

1. when system field mandt is gievn as database table field for a database table than table becomes cleint dependent other wise client independent.

2. reports r used for displayindg data and scripts are used for designing pages for purchase orders, sales orders etc......

3. generally all database tables, smart forms, function modules, transaction codes .......... are cross cleint objects

scripts, subroutines, reports[$TMP] are client dependent .
