Access Objects in Other Main Package

Dear all,

I read from online document that, by default, objects in one main package is invisible to objects in other main packages. But by experiment there seem not to be such a restriction. Can anybody provide a further explanation?

Please use more elaborative language to get a correct and appropriate answer to your query.

Which online document are you talking about and what objects are in question? If this with reference to development unit Package (Development Class) then objects any package are visible to other packages and can be used within other packages. Simple example for this would be Z-programs within which you use SAP standard function modules which are not part of the same package but still visible and usable.

I think you have it backwards, by default, all objects are visible, you can however apply restrictions.

Thanks for the information. I'd like to make some objects in certain packages invisible to all other main packages by default. How can I do that?

In the document at http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/ea/c05d92f01011d3964000a0c94260a5/content.htm, I saw a statement "From the outside, a package looks like a "black box." To make packages visible from the outside so that they can be used, you define package interfaces. " What I want to build is just just such a black box, only through package interface can we access objects. by default the objects are inaccessible.

You link does not work. You should follow the instructions from the link that I provided about the Package Builder, there should be complete instructions in there which will walk you thru the process.
