rohit,

paragraph contains all the information needed to format a paragraph of text and font.

character is used to override paragraph settings for specific words in a paragraph.

Hi Rohit,

Paragraph formate is used to set the entire paragraph in to different fonts, size etc...

Character formate is used to for a particular character only.

Hi Rohit,

Paragraph formats control the formatting of paragraphs in SAPscript whereas Character formats are used for text formatting within paragraphs.

Character formats will have Standard attributes like Bold, Italic, Underline, Font family, Font size etc.

Paragraph formats will standard attributes of Character formats and in addition to this, they will margins, Indents, tabs, Alignments, Line spacing and delimeters.

Hi!

Suppose u want some set of lines in a particular format but some words within those lines in a different format ,then in this case, you can use a particular paragragh format for those set of lines and in between u can use character format for specific words that u want in a different format.

Paragraph format helps you to display complete paragraph to your required format... whereas Character format is used to display one particular Character in user required format.....

paragraph format : In SAP Scrip/Sform its useful for set a particularg paragraph in same fonts.But its usful for set tabs for that particular paragraph.

character format : A Character format its only use for to set a font,style, size of particular charachters.

Hi,

In paragraph format we can define different attributes like spacing between lines ,

Distance from left margin,Right margin , tabs and numbering of paragraphs and font size,type ,alignment of paragraph,Delimiters etc .In character format we can give font type and size and we can give either the characters should be appear as subscript or superscript.when we want to use some superscript or subscript we can insert character formats using '<c1>' .Whenever a change in font type occurs in same line we use this character format.

paragraph format you can use for entire line or paragraph or entire script because you have to assign default paragraph for every script.

but in character format you can show a particular symbol or character or BARCODE.

general thing suppose you have P1<bold att> paragraph format and C1<italics> is char format.

in layout if you use

P1 HI <C1> there </>

it will print like

<b>HI</b><i>there</i>

Hi Rohit,

Added to what Vinay Kumar says,

The Important use of Character Format is to Override some of properties of

Paragraph Format.

example.

In Paragraph Format we have Bold,Italic,Font, and others.

and in Character Format we have the same Bold,Italic,Fontsize,family and others.

But if we assign different values to Para and Character Formatsize,family.,then character

format takes precedence.

<P1> I am Resident of <C1> Paris </>

then

'I am Resident of' willhave Font Attribtues(Bold,Italic,Fontsize,family ) of P1

and Paris of C1.

Paragraph Format can be applied to paragpahs, but where as character formats can be applied to even single charater and even to group of character (words).

hi,

in real times most times we will us paragraph formate.

the paragraph formate overwrite the character formate.

paragraph formate is used for desinging the paragraph what ever way u want.

in case of chatacter formate used for desinging the single character.
