BAPI and ALE

Hi ,

BAPI can be used to make Interface with Non SAP system like JAVA and VB etc. without middleware by using Remote Function Module .Through ALE also we can make Interface with Non SAP system by using middleware like XI etc ...But middleware is costly..

If we can make interface by using BAPI why should we go for XI .How it is feasible. Plz explain ...

hi,

SAP XI :- is middleware tool .

it is between SAP R/3 & External World.

With Help of SAP XI SAP R/3 can Communicate to any application.

Reason :- SAP XI communicate

in form of XML Document.

XML Document is universally Excepted Format.

ALE

ALE is SAP proprietary technology that enables data communications between two or more SAP R/3 systems and/or R/3 and external systems. When a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution such as R/3 is implemented, companies have to interface the ERP system with legacy systems or other ERP systems.

ALE provides intelligent mechanisms where by clients can achieve integration as well as distribution of applications and data.

ALE technology facilitates rapid application prototyping and application interface development, thus reducing implementation time.

The ALE components are inherently integrated with SAP applications and are robust, leading to a highly reliable system.

ALE comes with application distribution/integration scenarios as well as a set of tools,

programs, data definitions, and methodologies that you can easily configure to get an interface up and running.

BAPI

BAPIs provide a stable, standardized method for third-party applications

and components to integrate into the Business Framework.

These interfaces are being specified as part of SAP's initiative with customers,

partners and leading standards organizations.

Also, SAP has implemented the emerging Object Application Group (OAG) specifications with BAPIs.

Thanks for information..

My client is using PLM(Matrix one) Non SAP System .We have to make interface with SAP as it is being implemented . Here we have to make interface for MM and BOM .

This could be done using BAPI . As of my knowledge we can make it with ALE and XI.

In the same way we can make Interface Non-SAP SYS(JAVA ,VB ,.Net etc ) with SAP.Why we are using ALE -XI and etc ,what is the diff and advantages .

Hi Rohan,

First you have to tell me without Middleware Sap to non sap communication is possiible !!!!!!

You have to attached some middleware for conversion.

Because only sap understand IDoc but other system can't.

I know how to configure sap system to non sap configaration with tibco and xi also.

Tell me your exact requirment then i will explain you.

hi rohan,

we can make interface sap system with non-sap system by using remote function modules in BAPI with out middleware.

i don't have correct information regarding ALE-XI configuration.

and its a costly thing.

i am also very interesting in knowing the difference between in interfacing non-sap system by using BAPI and ALE-XI.

It is possible to make Interface with Non SAP System without Middleware by using Remote Functional Module In BAPI.

My question is what is the difference and advantages in using ALE-XI other than BAPI.
