Control the input method for a text box field

Hi,

Are we able to control our text box field in ABAP program so that the user is only allow to input the data by scanning only (and not through keyboard)

Hi,

Just unthick the attribute for Input field for your text control.

How to do it ?

1. Doble click your text control, it will display Screen Painter: Attributes

2. Select TAb Progran on Attributes Group ( Below)

3. Unthick Input Field or thick Output Only.

But, by doing that, the user will not be able to input the value by using scanner as well.

Just uncheck the input in screen attributes and set the output only.

It will take the value from scanner, it won't allow manual entry.

Hi,

I have set the field attributes to "Output Only" and unticked "Input Field".

And, I tried to scan the value using a scanner. It was not captured.

Maybe there is something that I missed out?

Hi All,

The scanning here means barcode scanning.

I'm going to enhance an ABAP program (dialog program) and the user will need to scan their employee badge (contain barcode of employee number) before using it.

Actually, the reason I would like to put that control is to make user the users do not cheat the program by manually key in others' employee number.

This employee number will then be stored into a customized table for audit trail purpose (we would like a record of who & when using the program, etc..)

I had the almost the same requirement a few months ago, the shop floor scans there badge to clock in, and they wanted to not allow them to type it into the field, only scan. Unfortuately, this kind of restriction is not supported by the SAPgui.
