HI,

There are several possibilities...

1. If a company having operations in different countries / continents where they have different taxation structure.. .diff. HR policies they decided to have diff. R/3 sysems... but they want to collect some common information in one system to get reports.. they use ALE - IDOC to achieve that.

2. In Some cases comapanies need to have HR system disconnected from remaining ERP . Because they have frequent changes in HR Policies and they want to process only pay roll in R/3 remaining work will be done in SAP-HR they use distributed syste,

3. In cell phone companies... If they use R/3 as ERP but distribtes their workload of highly technical.. I.e billing of phone bills ect. to other system like JAVA based or Mcommerce based system they use distributed scenario between R/3 and Non R/3

Hope this will help you

Best luck and reward with points.
