Output determination using special functions (medium 8)

HI There,

Need some urgent help. I'm trying to PGI a delivery as soon as it is saved by calling the transaction VL21. My thought was I coudl do this using as special function and output determination. I've assigned the output to the delivery , created a function and everything in config looks good

But I keep getting the error message "update terminated - Posting_Illegal_statement"

I'd appreciate any help on this.

Hi Betty,

Check if your program has any explicit commit work statements, or any calls to BAPIs of FMs that does an explicit commit.

Thanks so much for the prompt response. We don't have an explicit commit -We're calling the transaction VL21

CALL TRANSACTION 'VL21'USING bdcdata

UPDATE 'S'

MODE p_mode.

should we put one in?

I'm having the same problem with a similar requirement involving special functions.

Apparently, you can't use functions having 'COMMIT' statements, or use 'SUBMIT', even 'CALL TRANSACTION'. These are not allowed in output types.

Kindly check ST22 for the short dump logs, you will see more details there (note that when running the transaction, the dump page is not shown but when you check ST22, it's there with the error 'POSTING_ILLEGAL_STATEMENT'.

Look for a BAPI or FM for transaction VL21 that does not need explicit 'COMMIT'.
