What is the main difference between AT SELECTION-SCREEN and

AT SELECTION-SCREEN OUTPUT ?

The AT SELECTION-SCREEN event is triggered after the user input(PAI). This is used to validate the input.

The AT SELECTION-SCREEN OUTPUT is triggered when the screen is to be displayed(PBO). This event is useful to hide/show the selection screen fields.

Hi,

At Selection screen output is the PBO event and the At selection screen is a PAI event.

The difference between Selection Screen and Selection Screen Output is we use the Selection Screen Output Event before the Selection Screen will displayed. Eg: Suppose if we want to disable some fields and enable some fields in the Selection Screen then we can code that in Section-Screen Output event.

Selection-Screen Event will trigger after section-screen is displayed and user action takes place on that.

AT SELECTION-SCREEN : After the input is given and then for validation it is used...

AT SELECTION-SCREEN OUTPUT : Before the input is given and displayed, if u want to change dynamically any of the output fields,,

then u go for this event...

The event AT SELECTION-SCREEN is the basic form of a whole series of events that occur while the selection screen is being processed.

The standard selection screen in an executable program or in the logical database linked to it is automatically called between the INITIALIZATION and START-OF-SELECTION events. When you call the selection screen, and when users interact with it, the ABAP runtime environment generates selection screen events, which occur between INITIALIZATION and START-OF-SELECTION.

You can define event blocks for these events in your program to change the selection screen or process user input.

For further information about selection screen events, refer to Processing Selection Screens.

AT SELECTION-SCREEN OUTPUT

This event is executed at PBO of the selection screen every time the user presses ENTER - in contrast to INITIALIZATION . Therefore, this event is not suitable for setting selection screen default values. Also, since AT SELECTION-SCREEN OUTPUT is first executed after the variant is imported (if a variant is used) and after adopting any values specified under SUBMIT in the WITH clause, changing the report parameters or the selection options in AT SELECTION-SCREEN OUTPUT would destroy the specified values.

Here, however, you can use LOOP AT SCREEN or MODIFY SCREEN to change the input/output attributes of selection screen fields.

At selection-screen used for the considerations after the selection-screen was displayed.

i can do screen modifications like make some radiobuttons activate/deactivate /

parameters /sel options visible /invisible / or mandatory / or password options in the event at selection screen output.

i can modify some of the selection screen block operations in this event.

as the user enters the data this is enabled.

this is triggered earlier than at selection screen.

for field validations we can write teh validation code in at selection screen.

Hi,

With AT SELECTION-SCREEN, you can read the system field SSCRFIELDS-UCOMM (provided a statement TABLES SSCRFIELDS exists). If the field has one of the values 'ONLI' (= Execute) or 'PRIN' (= Execute and Print), the report is then started, i.e. the selection screen is closed and the processing continues with START-OF-SELECTION.

This event is executed at PBO of the selection screen every time the user presses ENTER - in contrast to INITIALIZATION. You can also change the input/output attributes of selection screen fields.

The basic form of the selection screen events is the AT SELECTION-SCREEN event. This event occurs after the runtime environment has passed all input data from the selection screen to the ABAP program.

The other selection screen events allow programmers to modify the selection

screen before it is sent and specifically check user input.

The AT SELECTION-SCREEN event is triggered in the PAI of the selection screen once the ABAP runtime environment has passed all of the input data from the selection screen to the ABAP program. If an error message occurs in this processing block, the selection screen is redisplayed with all of its fields ready for input.

In the PBO of the selection screen, the AT SELECTION-SCREEN OUTPUT

event is triggered. This event block allows you to modify the selection screen directly before it is displayed.
