Clone function group

Hi all,

I want to clone the function group (SAP standard ). Can you please tell me the full procedure to clone the functional group.

Go to SE80, Type then name of the function group and select "Function Group" from the drop down. Now hit enter. In the tree structure below, right click on the function group name and select copy. Give the new name. System will ask if you want to copy the functions underneath, select them and rename them.

But this will clone the function under this group but what about the dependent object. For example in this function group has 4 function module and that function module has some user exits and that user exits has different functionnal group so how can i link that?

Hi,

Best way is, create your own function group and activate it.

Then, from SE37, copy all the function modules which you require into this function group.

How does this sound?

Hi,

While copying dependent function groups or function module please take care the program name and Include name in the "Attribute" tab. This will control the backflow while existing from dependent function modules.

I dint get you what you mean can youplease explain me or please tell me how I can do that? b'coz when i was cloning the sap standard functional grup i need to convert all functionn module into z so how can i manage it and also i need to do some changes in that function module also so i need to convert it to the z from standard

Hi,

I learned a very hard lesson on cloning transaction CO01 (Production Order create). My suggestion not to go for it.

My suggestion is NOT clone SAP function groups or transactions, for a variety of reasons, the primary one being that by cloning you get into maintenance nightmare, particularly at the next R/3 version upgrade,

when SAP's version will work afterward and the cloned copy almost certainly won't work any more...this is just my experience and viewpoint...
