regarding IDOC

Hi guys,

My client uses IDOC for order creation, using LSMW by reading the data from

a file. This IDOC uses an extended segment type and an extended Basic type.

Now they want to change the length (from character length 13 to 6) of the

extended segment and when they tried correcting the segment after cancelling

the Request(Edit-> Release cancel) they end up with the following

error[Generated Segment types cannot be edited.]

As an alternative, they created new segment (Extended) & IDOC type and tried

creating Order. But this particular segment is not getting updated in the

IDOC and also in the Order.

Can somebody suggest us If any document describing the steps for

correcting it.

Hi,

1. In case 1: When an extended segemmt is giving that error u can delete segment and create it again.From Menu Bar Segment -> Delete Segment, will do it. If not, Delete the segment definition as such and create it. The second approach of deleting the segment definition is recommonded.

2. When the new idoc type and new segment type are created, are the corresponding changes also made. Like attaching the new idoc type to a message type and to a partner profile, changing the outbound program to carry these new names and all. If this is not done please do this.

Hi Baasha,

As long as your segment is being used in a IDoc Type, no you cannot delete the segment. First u need to delete the segment from all Idoc types where it is being used.

And if you have to delete the segment in an idoc, u have to first cancel the release of idoc type and delete the segment from there.

Be careful while doing all this. Do this in your test system first and if you are satisfied then carry on. U can try this with Z segments in a test system.

Baasha,

first cancel the release in WE30 and then WE31 . then modify the segment according to your requirement. now Release the segment in WE31 and then release in WE20 also.
