table maintenance through SM30

how to add entries to a table for which table maintenance is present through SM30. Please provide steps.

In the case of generating table maintenace to a table what is the authorization group whether we can create a new authorization group starting with y. and what is &NC& authorization group whether we can use this for temporary tables.

please provide steps for this also.

Go to

se11~~>utilities~~>table maintenance generator-->there u fill

Fungroup group (inthe function group u give any a z name related to ur table name it create automativaly it)

package

maintenance screen type and screen name

After this save and activate.

Then goto

Utilities~~>TABLE CONTENTS~~>CREATE ENTERIES

If ur table is HR master data related then select Authorization group as "PC06 " ..so u have to choose tht as per ur requiremernt..

go to SM 30 ,enter name of ur maintenace generator there and click on maintain.

and then click on new entries..and save

this is it..

Hello Kiran,

Enter table name in SM30 screen and pres Maintain button. Based on the single screen or double screen u will be presented with data entry screen. U can enter ur data and press Save button. This will save the data in the database.

In table maint authorisation group controls if u can change the entries in table. &NC& indicates that there is no authorisation check and any user can do change, delete or add.

hello,

goto sm30->change->new entires and add the required entries

&NC& with out authorization

yes you can use this group for temp tables.

for generating table maintenace goto se11 and to the table you want ot generate view for then goto utilities->table maintenance generater put the auth group &nc& then put the function group name (non existing) put screen number and click the create icon.

you can use the transaction se54 also.

Hi all,

I added table entries to the temporary table through SM30 creating the table maintenance generator from SE11.

But the original entries and the new entries i added is not reflecting to other clients

for this what i have to do.

And one more is inwhich case a program will be created from table maintenance generator. what is the use of this program. what is the purpose and for what we have to create a transaction code from SE93.

Let us go slowly....

Abt the data not getting refelcted in other client on the same system is because u have mandt field in the table u are trying to maint. This indicates the data is client dependant i.e only for that client in which u are working. If u don't have this field then the data is refelcted to all client.

Table maint program is a way provided by SAP to stdisd the table manit process for any table. This can be created from SE11 for any Z table. U can create a Tcode in SE93 by selecting paramater transaction and then entering SM30 in default and tick skp initial screen and maintain 2 variables VIEWNAME with value as ur table name and UPDATE with value as X.

Now, say from SE11 u have maintained a table maintenance for <b>ZTAB</b>. the steps involved for table maintenance are..

se11~~>utilities~~>table maintenance generator-->specify Fungroup group (inthe function group u give any a z name related to ur table) package.

maintain screen type and screen name

Save and activate

Now, goto SM30 & specify the table name <b>ZTAB</b>. click on Maintain Values...U will goto the table screen. Here click on insert values to insert new values, click on change to change existing values 7 select a row and click delete button to delete an entry.

Hi Abhijit,

No for the actual table which i have to maintain new entries the mandt field is present and it is showing the entries in other clients also.

But in my temporary table for which i created table maintenance generator

the original and new entries are not reflecting to other clients

Whether any other settings has to be maintained for this.

Hello Kiran,

What do u mean whe u say the entries are seen in other clients.Do u mean other systems or same system but other clients. If it is the second case then it is simple not possible that u maint the data in one client and they are visible in other client with mandt being present in the table. This is only possible if there has been a transport of these entires in other client.

If u are refering to other systems then u need to transport the entries into these systems w/o which they will not be visible.

in my case in the same system itself but in other clients the entries are not coming. You told it is possible if there has beeb a transport of these entires to other clients what this means how to transport.

( & just for knowing in the case other systems what are the steps to achieve this)

You have to understand this that data dictonary/defination is client independent and actual data in the table is client dependent. So if their is the field mandt in your client (say 800) and you are populating it, then that is not visible in another client say 810.

so check it out.

Yes you are right,

but iam having one table in which there is mandt field.

Now the same records but for mandt field respective client number is visible for the table.

How this was achieved by them

but i have to enter new records to this table through SM30.

what will happen to other client(ex 210) entries if i suppose to enter in the developement client only (ex client -200).

Hello Kiran,

There is a concept of Transport in SAP. It is a way of moving objects/data from one client to another client/system. The table which u said has mandt filed indicates it is client dependant maning the data is stored client wise even though at database level the table is same. So in another client u will have mandt different but same data can exists. Now moving the entires into another table is done using transport.

In SM30 when when u enter the table name and press MAINTAIN instead u can press TRASPORT button to generate the transport request. This request can then be sent out to other clients to sync. For more details u can check with ur Basis guys.

sm30 is for view maintenance and not for table maintenance.

with se16 you could create entries or with se11.
